For students across the country, obtaining a higher education degree can change the trajectory of their lives forever. In Kentucky, the Kentucky Student Success Collaborative (KYSSC) was launched to foster this goal. Since its conception in late 2021, the KYSSC has seen tremendous impact across the state in many different areas.
The state of Kentucky’s goal is for 60% of the population to hold a post secondary credential by 2030. This goal aims to take steps towards improving the state’s overall workforce and economy. There has been progress on degree completion and closing completion gaps in recent years, however, challenges still remain. Key groups are experiencing a decline in undergraduate enrollment, and Kentucky is below the national average in baccalaureate degree attainment.
In order to start remedying some of these remaining challenges, the KYSSC has teamed up with partners such as the James Graham Brown Foundation. With this financial support, the collaborative has been able to make leaps and bounds towards meaningful change in the state’s education system.
These improvements include supporting student needs and making the process of obtaining a higher degree more streamlined. The work that the Kentucky Student Success Collaborative has already done has been dubbed “unmatched” indicating a bright future of difference making ahead.
